Gavin

I admit, I was glad to get the hell out LA. All that traffic and noise and everybody moving too fast to notice anything else going on around them, it's not the place for me.

Leaving Jillian out there was damned hard on me though. Having to say goodbye to her at the airport, not having had a chance to really pin down our plans for her move was tough but leaving her without feeling her body against mine one more time damn near killed me.

I offered at least a dozen times to fly out and drive back with her but Jill said Alli was really looking forward to the road trip so I've had to sit tight and wait a few more days to get my woman's body tangled up with mine again. I waited 32 damn years to meet her and another couple weeks while she ended her job and packed up her place, holding out a couple more days ain't likely to kill me.

At least, that's what I told myself 3 days ago when she and Alli left LA. She called awhile ago to say they were about 2 hours away and I'm getting downright anxious now, checking the road every 15 minutes or so, looking for her car.

Jill ended up getting everything she's bringing in a trailer that she can tow with her car. I'm damn impressed, but I did tell her we'd start over from scratch when she gets here-- build our home together from the bare walls if that's what she wants to do.

Looking around at my place, I'm sure that's what she's gonna want to do. It's a nice place, a two story farmhouse on a 2 acre lot in the country but it's not exactly the sort of place a woman would call a home. I never even put furniture in the extra bedrooms.

Abe wanders out onto the front porch to stand next to me and stare down the road like he's just as anxious as I am, "They here yet?" He cranes his neck to look down the road all the way out to the T intersection.

I'm suspicious that he's eager to see Alli more than his future sister in law but no matter how much grief I give him, he won't fess up about it.

"Any minute now," I tell him, "I didn't know you were so anxious to see your new sister in law?"

Abe shoots me a glare and grumbles something under his breath before heading back inside where Lyle and Derek are waiting with my folks.

We decided not to hit Jillian with the whole town at once. She knows the guys already and there was no way my parents were going to wait another minute to meet their new daughter in law so I kinda had to let them in. Even though that means being on good behavior till I can convince them to leave.

I'm on my brother's heels when I hear a car coming up the road. Out here, you get used to the sounds that are typical, this is a car I don't recognize.
